Class Descriptions
Ballet is the basis for all dance styles, and greatly improves body alignment, strength, poise, and control. Our classes include exercises at the barre, in the center, and across the floor to build musicality and performance skills. Dancers wanting to increase their technical ability in order to prepare for more advanced placement should participate in ballet and jazz technique. These classes are required for competitive team members.
Our jazz technique classes are designed to improve dance style, flexibility, and strength. Classes begin with a full warm-up and stretch and progress into across-the-floor exercises and combinations. Dancers enrolled only in ballet or technique classes do not learn a routine for the spring recital. We recommend a recreational or competitive class if you want to participate in recital.
Hip hop classes are very popular because of their street-style choreography and limited technique and experience requirements. Beginner dancers will appreciate the fun and playful class environment. Students learn age appropriate and up-to-date choreography as seen on music videos and TV. Also incorporated in this class are the most fun elements of jazz such as leaps and turns, taught using proper ballet technique. These recreational classes perform in the spring recital for family and friends.
Young dancers are given the opportunity to express themselves in a nurturing, non-competitive environment with our creative movement program especially for preschool age children. Classes include basic tap and ballet techniques, as well as creative movement to encourage development in large motor skills, rhythm, spatial awareness, and much more. Fun, age appropriate music and singing are used to develop strong, self-confident dancers. Each dancer is awarded with a sticker or coloring page after each class for their participation. These classes learn a ballet and tap routine to perform in the spring recital for family and friends. Children who participate only in summer classes do not learn a routine.
Just want to dance for the fun of it? These classes focus on teaching basic skills in the classic disciplines of tap and jazz to beginner level dancers. Classes include a short warm-up, floor progressions, and routine choreography. To improve choreography retention and technique, dancers participating in these classes may also take ballet and jazz technique classes. Ballet /Jazz/ tap combo classes are recreational and participate in the spring recital for family and friends. Dancers who participate in summer only do not learn choreography for recital.
All-Star Competitive Teams positive feedback from professional dancers and choreographers. Dancers compete against other private studios in the region, as well as on the national level. All Star Team members are provided opportunities to travel, perform at local community events, and practice positive team sportsmanship and leadership in the classroom. Dancers wanting to compete must tryout each year during the summer to be placed on a variety of All-Star teams. Competitive team members must agree to participate from August to July, and are expected to attend all classes and events. Dancers must have a minimum of one year of experience , as well as a desire to make dance a priority. To learn more, click on the link below. Learn more about competitive teams…CLICK HERE!
