ETIQUETTE
Each dancer, family, and
their guests must represent Absolute Dance Studio All Stars by showing a
positive attitude, leadership and good
sportsmanship at every class, practice
and team event. In addition to the rules set forth by Absolute Dance Studio,
each team member and
family must abide by the rules set forth by each
competition and performance venue. Information will be available at the studio
prior to the event.
BALLET & JAZZ TECHNIQUE
Members are required to participate in one (1) ballet class and one (1) jazz
technique class per week in addition to their All Star Choreography
class(es).
ADS holds additional ballet and jazz technique classes to allow enough time for
each dancer to progress technically while learning
choreography. This allows
routines to be completed in a timely fashion without compromising the
comprehension of necessary technical skills.
Class length varies with All Star
levels. Pending instructor approval, All Star members may participate in more
than one jazz technique and/or
ballet class. If a dancer (or two+ dancers from
the same family) takes more than 6 total hours, tuition tops out at the 6 hour
rate. Families with
more than one dancer can enroll both dancers in as many
classes as possible for one flat rate.

ATTENDANCE
You must call
before class to notify the studio of your absence!
“No call-no shows” and excessive tardiness are not tolerated. Each
student is allowed three (3) excused absences per All Star class per dance season. Any
missed ballet or jazz technique class must be made
up in a different
level (or privately) before the next All Star event. One 30-minute private
lesson counts as one ballet or jazz technique makeup
class. Competitions, conventions, fundraisers, and the week of practice prior to competition
are mandatory. Your instructor will decide whether
or not to
allow absences on these important practices/events. If a dancer misses any of the aforementioned
practices or events without being
excused ahead of time, that dancer may be
asked to observe the event. Dancers must be excused ahead of time by a parent
in order to be
considered to be excused
from that practice or event. Absolute Dance Studio

TEAM CAPTAIN
After All Star teams are
chosen, team captain/co-captains will be chosen based on leadership, ability and
experience. Captains or co-captains
are responsible for things like
demonstrating choreography and helping with team practices and events. Good
attendance is required as a captain.
TEAM PARENT
For each All Star team,
a parent will be asked to help organize things such as costumes, makeup, team
bonding events, fundraisers, competitions,
etc. This parent will be responsible
for the entire season. If a parent wishes to turn her responsibilities over,
she must find a replacement before the
next event. Some qualities a team parent
must posses are talents with hair and makeup, sewing, organizing, and shopping.
Parents may volunteer
immediately after teams are chosen.
COSTUMES
Each Absolute Dance
Studio All Star team will wear a costume chosen by the instructor. Any issues
concerning costumes should be brought to
attention before the costume fee due
date. After costumes are ordered, they cannot be returned for a refund. Please
note that each routine is
considered a separate team. If you perform two
routines, you are considered to be on two teams. Most costumes run between $50
and $70 and
are kept as inexpensive as possible. Each team member must look
alike, which is why makeup and accessories will be chosen by the instructor
when
costumes are ordered. The makeup and accessory budget for each dancer will be
kept under $20. Due dates will be given in advance.
COMPETITIONS
Each
All Star team will attend as many as four competitions throughout the year.
Regional competitions will be near, if not in the city of Louisville.
The national competition, most likely will be held out of town. Information
about each competition will be given ahead of time so families can plan
trips
and vacations around them.
DANCE
CONVENTIONS
All
competition judges are professionals in the performance industry, so they easily
recognize up-to-date choreography, hair and makeup, and styles.
This is why
it’s important for ADS All Stars to attend one dance convention toward the
beginning of each season. Dancers are given the opportunity
to take class from
famous dancers, teachers and choreographers from around the US. Conventions are
a less expensive way to keep up on the latest
styles and choreography, as
opposed to traveling to New York or Los Angeles. This way, the newest, hottest
dance trends come to you!
SPIRIT GEAR
Positive team spirit and
sportsmanship are important at Absolute Dance Studio. To promote our teams, we
offer Absolute Dance Spirit Gear, which
will be worn at all team events. Orders
will take place in the fall so Spirit Gear can be worn to our first events.
Other gear is also available, but not required. The following items
are required by each team member:
